This slick body curly tail finesse worm rests at just 2-3/4 inches in the mold. It swims out to around 3-1/4. The tail is a similar profile as you might find on an 1-1/2 inch curly tail grub, but the longer body allows you to use a larger hook for those days when big fish are feeding on small baits.
I was originally inspired to make this bait when I was standing out on a canal bank in the middle of nowhere. I had been playing around with the Tru1.5 grub catching a variety of fish when I walked up on a bush hanging out over the canal. There were a 20 or 30 small bass in the 5-7 inch range hanging directly under the bush. As I was getting ready to make my first cast I saw a wolf pack of larger bass int he 2-4 pound range come down the bank. When the came upon those smaller bass it was a massacre. In seconds there was only 2 or 3 of those small bass left, and the larger bass were milling around just below them waiting for one of them to make a mistake. I went ahead and flicked a tiny curly tail grub rigged on a #6 hook on a drop shot rig out among the bigger bass. The spooked from the splash of the singer, but turned back and raced over to eat the bait. I waited for the first one to close its mouth and turn away before I set the hook, and the bait, hook and all just slid right out of its mouth. I had that happen three times before I hooked one. That night when I got home I immediately designed the Curly Slick275 to have the same look as a 1.5 inch grub, but be able to use a much larger hook.
