The Ribbed Flipping Grug (RFG) is a long time coming. I made the first version back around 2007, and have revised it three times since then. This latest version V4c has been updated in design three times before I cut it, and it is finally ready for general sale.
The basic concepts are:
1. A ribbed body to give a bulkier look without excess bulk to foul hooksets.
2. A stronger tail resist stem wrap and tear off.
3. Have a wide profile, with a thick back bone and thin leading edge on the tail for great action.
It rests at a little over 4 inches long in the mold and swims out to 5-1/2 inches.
I have personally caught big fish and won local club tournaments on earlier cruder versions of this bait. This refined version shoots better than all the previous versions.
As with all ribbed baits running the plastic hotter and injecting slower to allow trapped air time to float up to the vents works best.
